Rundown

First attempt with Gungirl Sequencer with some random samples. At that point of time, I was kind of obsessed with the sound of static noise. Others just fall into place as I heard em.

Rundown

04 5th, 2009

Since the weather was causing depression all day long, I was actually looking for some darkwave / ambient tracks, just to add to my misery. Stumbled across this particular song, Eishalle by a band called Paysage D’Hiver. They’re actually a Swedish (death/black/cold) metal band as I quickly found out all of their other songs, which consist of wicked guitar shreds and ear bleeding growling/screaming, are not exactly my forté.

But back to the song, Eishalle. It starts out with warm pad sounds that makes you feel like your drifting away in space, floating because you’re weightless. 2 minutes into the song, the synthesized keyboard sound starts to fill in the vibe. Rhytmic patterns fill in just at the right time, transcending you to another state.

One thing I love about the song is that, there is nothing complicated about it. A fair 2 – 3 sounds used yet brilliantly composed. You guys can catch it over here:

Monday is upon us, and I have not planned anything for the week yet. Screwed is me. All I know is that my ‘To-do’ list is moving very slowly. Maybe, just maybe, if I feel like a productive employee, I’ll try to do something later after dinner. On another depressing note, my car is still in the workshop thus I’ll have to take the LRT again tommorrow. After a year of giving up on it, I finally remember the reason why I did so.
Well on the good side, you get to ‘see’ different people everyday =)

I’m starving and I feel like having something chicken’ish. Alsooooo, some pasta. Good combination if I may say so myself.

The 3rd week of March for 2009 seems be a real fucked up week for me. One  bad event after the other. I just don’t understand it. Getting bloody snake eyes almost every other day. First, there was a shortage in a payment I made which resulted in me paying an extra RM100, then it was my mounting pile of work. Right after that, my car started to overheat as I was driving home on Wednesday. Sent it over, left it there for a day. Found out that the thermostat was fucked, my hose was leaking, coolant was out. Oh and also, I was out of RM 350.

Exactly the very next day. I got an email from one of the employee, saying my car lights was on. So I went to check. To my surprise my brake lights were lighted when all the lights weren’t actually turned on. Frustrated with the situation and needing to get back to work, I disconnected the power cable to the lights. Stopped over the mechanic on my way back. Apparently the rubber was out, new one cost RM25. Oh the worst is yet to come….

Sunburst was yesterday. Overwhelemed with excitement as the band that introduced me to the nu metal genre was about to perform here live in KL — KoRn. Packed all my shit, picked up the lil one from the Curve, Dan and Yeh. As I was about to head out, reached a junction and stopped. With limited vision due to parked cars on the roads and trees, I inched out when suddenly a motorbike rode directly into my front bumper. The dude flew across the car and landed on the road. I swear my heart skipped a beat. He managed to shred my bumper, kill one of my lights and fucked up my hood.

Someone suggested to me to go and mandi bunga. Haha sadly I don’t believe in those nonsense. So what does a geek do when he gets tagged with bad luck?  He googles for solution.

Interesting enough, a professor actually wrote a book on it. It’s called The Luck Factor: The Scientific Study of the Lucky Mind. After 10 years studying this, he found that the so called “lucky” people seem to have a similar behaviour and somehow they “create” their own luck (which others perceive, including themselves, as lucky). I was actually browsing through another book, which seems to be a popular one lately, which is titled The Secret. It basically revolves around this theory of attraction, where you attract everything. So if you spill coffee over your pants, you most probably attracted it. I know it doesn’t make sense and I’m not going to explain it to you. Go and get the book. So if the book is right, means I’ve attracted the series of bad incidents. Now, if I only can attract the ‘reverse effect’ button.

All I know is, I just need some quiet time by myself, clear my thoughts, make peace with my inner thoughts and start on a new chapter. Hopefully by then I’ll learn to attract good things… like sanity.

Top of the Pops!

As boredom took over, I started to surf for the best band in the world, yes, Radiohead. Found this awesome peformance of them on Top of the Pops, and they were playing Pyramid Song (which currently haunting my head alongside Idioteque). Check it out.

Radiohead – Pyramid Song on TOTP

Here’s the lyrics for you to sing along. A lot of people seem to think that the song is about death, but I’m guessing it would have been too easy for Yorke to write about death alone. Still can’t decipher it, though *sigh*

Pyramid Song by Radiohead

i jumped in the river and what did I see?
black-eyed angels swimming with me
a moon full of stars and astral cars
all the figures i used to see
all my lovers were there with me
all my past and futures
and we all went to heaven in a little row boat

there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

i jumped in the river
black-eyed angels swimming with me
a moon full of stars and astral cars
all the figures i used to see
all my lovers were there with me
all my past and futures
and we all went to heaven in a little row boat

there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt
there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt
there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt
there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

First, it was MJ embracing Islam. Yea, i spat out my coffee while reading it as well. Followed by the Fatwa Council banning Yoga, declaring it haram. Ladies and gentleman, we definitely have reached a new stage of stupidity. Why? Because it is believed that yoga MUST be followed with chants and rituals that are based on Hinduism. We CANT just take the  breathing control aspect and apply it. We can’t just listen to ocean sounds while we do our meditation. Nope. Doing Yoga will ERODE (such a strong word) your faith.

What’s even better is that the title of the article in NST is ‘Don’t question fatwa – Council’ Yes, that means you should never ever EVER question something that a person who is your equal, with probably 10% more knowledge on a certain subject. He or she is definitely wiser than you are, and you should swallow everything without questioning. Why? Because God gave us brains not to think, question, analyze, and etc, but to obey.

What if the council made a mistake? Are you kidding? They’re an elite bunch of 21st century thinkers. They’d never be wrong. Not in a million years. I mean come on, look at this face. This is a face of a brilliant man!

*sigh* How pathetic. Imagine if everyone had brains like these folks. A falling apple would still be an illusion and not because of a gravitational pull. I really hope our children won’t turn out to be ‘intelligent’ as some of these folks. God forbid.

7 Days Left

It’s been a long LONG 27 days. Really it has. Gotta learn lots of new things which actually was nice. But really, the work enviroment here is totally different. Like it? Yes. Can endure it? Sure, for a while =)

I guess I would be defined as a bad tourist.  People keep asking me have you been here and have you been there. The answer is NO. I just like to wonder around aimlessly. See things as they past me by. Just hop on to a bus, and let it go where it want (not to far la tapi). I guess that is when you get to see the ‘real’ city. Not in a fucking museum where everythings preserved *pfft*

I got a new baby. She’s white. Her daddy’s Fender. Her real name is Telecaster tapi I think I’m gonna call her Woon. =) Got it last week at quite a good bargain *everythings a good bargain when you really want something*

Ok nuff, my baju sudah kering, mau lipat. How I wish I had a Latina maid to do it for me instead =P. Peace

* * Currently playing: Radiohead – Just (Jon Jon with his m4d guitar ski11z)

Boredom and laziness is what it equates to. As I am writing this at the office, almost violating the ‘use of company assets’ policy, there is another roughly 35 hours before Eid Fitri. I swear Ramadhan just flew by this time. It was a definitely a good Ramadhan for me (something new + mostly old traditions). I won’t be going back to Penang this year. In fact I’m on call this week. Abso-fuckin-lutely brilliant. That’s work for you. It’s ok I guess, after all I’ll be here watching TV and stuffing my gob anyways.

6 days to my flight and I haven’t packed anything yet. It’s gonna be a long long LONG 35 days with intensive information pounding everyday by Michael. I’m so gonna love it. Well to be honest, I’m actually excited about Katy Mills and Prime Outlets. Also, I’m gonna try to get my hands on a cheap 2nd Telecaster if possible. It’s just one of those things that you feel that you MUST have. Doesn’t matter, I’m a rich dickhead.

As for now, I’m slowly managing devices in NNM and CiscoWorks. The day has never been slower. Can’t wait for berbuka later. Planning to go to Bom Brazil and feasts on the Portugese Barbeque. Feeling carnivorous today, watch out prime rib!

Got paged 3 times for the same problem. Saturday, 7.30am, there’s only 2 things which you should do…. sleep or have sex. Not scrambling for the fucking beeping device, trying to race to ESM to supress the message from escalating. *sigh* Screw it. I iz gonna getz me some karipapz panaz and head on over the office to catch up on work.

Here’s something funny. Wan never fails to amuse me:

Oh btw, Facebook’s new fucking interface is a disgrace. Take something good and turn it into something shitty like that. What a cock. I’m sorry just feeling a bit pissy today, but it’s about to change in another hour, I promise.

or Wall-E for short. Caught it twice, actually. I would definitely say it’s one of Pixar’s best animation yet. Favourite character would definitely be M-O (Microbe Obliterator) whose main function is to clean things deemed a ‘Foreign Contaminant’ (I’m so starting to love that word) that comes aboard the AXIOM

Now, I’ve added M-O to my wishlist, probably a slightly modified version. One which can clean up my room, wash and iron my clothes, and is pre-programmed on how to cook dishes all over the world. Sweeet =D.

Next on my movie list is “The Coffin”, a Thai movie (yes I know, someone mentioned that I’ve been watching quite a couple of Thai movies lately) about  a young man and lady undergoing a ritual (which really REALLY takes place apparently), where one would lie down in a coffin to get rid of one’s bad luck (or so one might think). This is followed by a string of bizzare events which made them wish they didn’t get out of the coffin in the first place. Here’s the official trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5S0lyqLig4

The movie stars Ananda Everingham (he’s the dude who acted in The Shutter) and Karen Mok as the main stars and is set to release Q4 2008. Now lets hope FINAS won’t be mean and start snipping away crucial scenes like they always do.

1.30pm and still in boxers, I love and hate Sundays so much. Everyday should be yesterday’s Saturday… and I’m out.

* * Currently playing: Thom “Eraser” Yorke and Jonny Greenwood – Tell Me Why (A Neil Young Cover) * *

and they ask me why I keep on saying Radiohead’s the best band in the world.
